In an attempt to streamline any issues with Java, Blackboard Collaborate have created the Collaborate Launcher.
This is a utility for Windows and OS X that replaces the need to Java to be installed, and launches the Collaborate software when a link to a session or recording is clicked.
Windows and OS X users
It is vital that you install the launcher otherwise you will not be able to join Collaborate sessions or watch recordings.
- When launching a Collaborate session you will be shown the download link for the launcher application.
- If you have not installed this application, click the link and download the installer. Run the installer and follow the on screen prompts.
- Once installed click Join Room.
.collabfile should then download and open the launcher. At which point the launcher will then start Blackboard Collaborate.
If you would like to do this ahead of your first session (highly recommended) then please take a look at Preparing your computer for your first Collaborate Session and launch the test room.
